A great thing with landscapes is that there is no limit to the compositions that can be drawn using different elements of nature. That said, it is often helpful to understand the core compositions and manner of use of different elements of nature in a drawing. In pen and ink tutorials, we looked at drawing different elements individually in detail. The next step is to understand how these elements can be used together in different ways to create effective and pleasing landscapes. This is done in the following pages.
In addition, I have video demonstrations of themes covered on my YouTube channel. These videos are appropriately linked in the following pages and can be used to understand the themes and techniques used in detail. I will regularly add new videos to my YouTube channel and you can subscribe to my channel to be notified of any new addition.
By ‘theme‘, I mean a certain way to use elements of nature together to create a landscape with a certain ‘feel’ to it. Different compositions can be done for a theme by changing different aspects to draw landscapes with different character. After going through the following themes, focus on drawing one of your own. You can find many more examples in mini landscapes.
